Ok, so I finished a book called The Maze Runner by James Dashner (YA sci-fi, I think) yesterday, and I have to admit, it was good. I wasn't too sure about it in the beginning, because some of it was confusing and didn't seem like it was going anywhere. However, I liked the development of the main character, Thomas, and the world he now inhabits. At the beginning of the book, he climbs out through The Box, otherwise known as the thing that delivers new kids and supplies to the boys who live in the middle of the Maze, which is called The Glade. For some reason, there are only boys living here, but no one knows where they came from, or why they're in the Maze in the first place. All they know is they have to solve the Maze, in order to escape.
And then, only a day after Thomas arrives, a girl is sent up through The Box, carrying a startling and somewhat confusing message for the 'Gladers'. Her appearance has everyone suspicious of Thomas because this sort of thing has never happened before.
Then at one point, Thomas is shown what is out there in the Maze just waiting for them to make a mistake. They're the reason the Doors of the Glade close for the night. The Grievers are the reason that no one has ever made it after being trapped in the Maze overnight. Once stung by the Grievers, you must get the Griever Serum in order to survive. Also, in what is called "The Changing" you regain most of your lost memories. And when that happens, some kids go crazy after what the've seen. One of them goes so insane, he tries to kill Thomas because the kid saw him in a flash of memory. And, the penalty for that is Banishment, of course.Left out in the Maze after dark.
According to the last page of the book, there will be another book. And just as well. I would like to know what will happen to Thomas, seeing as it's clear he's not out of the game just yet.
A few other books I've read this past month are Hush,Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, Carpe Corpus, Fade Out, and Kiss of Death by Rachel Caine (and they were EPIC!), Nightlight by the Narvard Harpoon, Bad Blood by Mari Mancusi, Devoured by Amanda Marrone, Gone by Lisa McMann, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer (It was GREAT! I loved it!), Mistwood by Leah Cypess, The Call of the Mild by William Rabkin (Who writes the script for the AMAZING series PSYCH!)and Heir to Sevenwaters by Juliet Marrilier (Which was effing AMAZING!)
